Villa Carlotta, a grand historic villa which stands high above the lake and roadside, beyond large ornate iron gates and its beautiful twinkling water features. This villa, once a family home, is now a magnificent museum and draws people in from all over the world to see the vast collection of priceless paintings and wonderful antiques that have been collected over the villas vast and romantic past. The famous painting, ‘last kiss of Romeo and Juliet’ is just one of the masterpieces that enrich this villas vast collection and is also the inspiration behind the villas romantic garden design. In 1843 the villa was given as a present to the daughter of Princess Marianne of Nassau (Carlotta) on occasion of her wedding to George II of Saxen-Meiningen. The wedding was an extremely, beautiful, lavish and romantic event and from that day the villa was so perfectly named Villa Carlotta, which it still remains today.

The villa is also hugely recognised for its beautiful botanical gardens which display over 150 species of beautiful flowers over an area of 70,000 square metres. Every inch of these gardens were designed and planted specifically to include all of Carlotta’s favourite species, and to create a romantic pleasure walk for the newly married couple to enjoy and more importantly retreat to. This villa absolutely oozes romance so it is no surprise at all then that it is seen today as one of the most beautiful and naturally romantic venues for couples from all over the world to come and celebrate the start of the rest of their lives together. The villa is available for both large and small wedding ceremonies, using the villas private large outdoor stone terrace which has the most amazing views out over the lake and across to the beautiful town of Bellagio. Wedding guests will feel on top of the world as they await the arrival of the bride whilst taking in the magical views and listening to the soft sound of a classical string quartet playing in front of them. The terrace is also available for a celebratory drinks aperiivo following the ceremony, where cold sparkling Prosecco can be served whilst everyone toasts the newly married couple before they disappear off into the beautiful gardens for photographs.
